Pre-Departure Training

Pre-Departure Training (PDT) is compulsory for all ADS awardees and varies in length from 6 weeks to 9 months (depending upon the IELTS result of the successful candidate).  PDT is conducted in Indonesia in Bali and Jakarta.  No further PDT is conducted in Australia.  The aim of PDT is to prepare students for study at an Australian university.  Components of PDT include English for Academic Purposes (EAP), computer skills and cross-cultural communication.

AusAID will provide students with a monthly living allowance from the period of commencement of PDT to the point of departure to Australia (except for deferring students).  AusAID will not provide additional EAP training in Australia.  Awardees who withdraw from ADS after commencing EAP training, may be required to refund the stipend paid to the awardee from the commencement of EAP.  Circumstances for withdrawal will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
